Lalpur Thana police have arrested 5 (five) persons in connection with the murder of Osman Gani, general secretary of Ward No. 5 of Ward No. 10, Kadimchilan of Lalpur Upazila of Natore, Osman Gani.
On Monday (4th September 2023) afternoon, the arrested persons were sent to Nato court.
According to the sources, Kutub Uddin, the brother of deceased Osman Gani, filed a case against 25 people on Sunday night. Following this, Mohsin Alam (28), son of Mokhlesur Rahman of Pukurpara village of the upazila and former president of Natore district student camp, Mokhlesur Rahman (55), son of deceased Taib Ali Sardar. , Abdul Latif Pramanik (55) son of deceased Nasim Uddin of Dangapara village, Nadeem (34) son of Naushad Ali of Duaria village and Zakirul Islam (30) son of Afsar were arrested.
Officer-in-Charge (OC) of Lalpur police station Ujjal Hossain said that the arrested have been sent to jail.

He also said that Osman Gani left the house at around 7 am on Sunday and went to have tea. At that time, some people went to the tea shop with sharp weapons and cut Osman’s legs and hands. Later they kept him in Kopa until his death was confirmed.
He also said that at that time, the attackers did not allow anyone to come near to save Osman Gani. After confirming his death, they left the scene. On receiving the information, the police visited the spot and collected evidence. Later, the body was sent to Sadar Hospital Morgue for autopsy.
Abdur Razzak, the former chairman of the deceased Osman Gani Kadimchilan Union, was accused in the murder case. Recently, he was staying at home on bail. The police believe that the murder may have happened because of that.
